My Other Brother

So you might as well know that I have two brothers.

No doubt, you’ve all read about Tack, my biological brother, but let me tell you about my other brother, Miguel.

As the people say, Miguel is my brother from another mother 😉

By the way, you might remember me mentioning, in a different piece, that he was the ONLY person to read the very first post that I ever wrote using Blogger back in 2008.

Did you hear me? Of course you didn’t but you know what I mean 🙂

Yep! He was the THE ONLIEST ONE!

Now that’s devotion right there!

Ah but it’s deeper than that.

Miguel also stayed with me at the hospital as I battled a life-threatening medical condition about four years ago.

Frankly, I secretly enjoyed observing the various reactions that I got from medical staff when I introduced him as my brother.

“Y’all don’t look nuthin’ alike,” they’d say.

Of course that didn’t matter to us at all.

You guys should have seen homeboy proudly walking Lady G up and down the hall after surgery!

I can still hear his encouraging words, “Come on Gwin, you can do it!  I got you!”

Best believe I will NEVER forget that!

NEVER.

He’s been there for me in so many ways that I cannot count them all.

YAAASSS!

So, needless to say, I love this dude and I am right here for him.

Scripture says that a brother is born for adversity and Miguel has shown me that this is, indeed, the truth!

Be aware that his birth name is Michael and I can assure you that he is an angel 🙂

He has a real heart for God!

And so…

With all that said, my dear little brother wrote me to ask that I pray for him as he continues doing his life’s work at an orphanage in Bolivia.

Here is an excerpt from the e-mail he sent to me along with other close family and friends:

Hello Family and Friends,

If you are receiving this message, then you hold a special place in my life and have demonstrated God’s love to me in a very real and tangible way in my life.  And it is because of that that I write you now, to solicit your prayers.  After much consideration and prayer, and seeing and living the reality here in Bolivia, I have decided to initiate a foundation and start a new orphanage and Christian boarding school here in Bolivia.  Familia Feliz is over capacity and we are constantly receiving more requests to receive students for the next school year and/or children from social services, parents who cannot take care of their kids any longer.

My goal is to open a children’s home in the rural area of the La Paz district, one of the largest and most populated provinces of Bolivia.  Aside from the orphanage, a school would be started to meet their educational needs.  At the start, the objective is to offer Montessori education to primary (elementary) students who live at the children’s home.  Montessori education is a fairly new concept here in a Bolivia and little known by the majority of the population.  However, it provides children the opportunity to develop their potential in a more engaged, creative and individual way while pursuing, even from a young age, a more proactive role in their education.

At this point Miguel is in need of prayers and financial support to realize his goal.  If you are interested in learning more about Miguel’s work.  Please check him out at My Adventures in Bolivia…

And on that note, I’ll close with these parting shots:

Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted. –Matthew 13:8  (NLT)

Love and light to you all!

Big Sis loves you Michael!

  1. Hi Gwin. I followed the link to your brother’s blog. I spent over a decade working abroad, most of it in Central America, and know exactly what he’s going through. I pray that he receives the funding his foundation needs. The world needs more Miguels out there, and amazing sisters like you!

      1. You have that much faith in me! ha!ha! When I read your post, it reminded me of a report I had been watching on television about the plight of Doctors without borders. It is amazing to me how many unsung heroes there are who risk their lives or are so generous in spirit to do what they do. I still have to climb that spiritual rung. But nice to read about your other brother. Hope you are fine! 😘

        1. ROTFLMAO!!!!
Girl, you are so right because I have to admit that I haven’t gotten to Miguel’s level when it comes to helping others.
Trust me, Miguel laughs at me all the time because he always says, “When you coming to see me?” And I’m like, “When your plane lands in Georgia.” LOL!!!
He has pictures of snakes and tarantulas on his blog! He knows that Lady G don’t do creepy crawling things. LOL!!!
I hope you are fine too my Sis 🙂

        2. Yeah well I guess that’s Bolivia huh! My home city is full of creepy crawleys, It wasn’t uncommon to find snakes under the bed, frogs at the door, lizards on the ceiling waiting to fall on your bed – I think you got the picture.
As for me Sweetheart, I’m ok but there’s just too much happening that’s creating lots of turbulence around us here.

        3. OH NO!!!!
I don’t think I could ever get used to snakes like that. They creep me out on EVERY level.

On a more serious note, I am keeping you, your family and especially your daughter in my prayers. Things have got to start settling down. They just have to.

    1. He really is! You can see his light whenever you’re in his presence.
By the way, he’s been doing this kinda think since he was in his 20’s. He’s in his 30’s now.
When you get time, please check out his blog so you can see how awesome he is 🙂
But if nothing else, pray that he accomplishes his goals 🙂

    1. He really is Lisa!
Thanks for reading about him! I hope you go check him out at his blog. Last I checked he updated in March of this year but you know he is really busy taking care of those kids and he doesn’t always have access to internet. He has to go into the city to access all his e-mails and to post to the blog.
You know he would probably be a very interesting person to interview 😉 (wink, wink). LOL!!
Thanks again for reading about my ‘brother.’
