Lady G Quickie: On the Move

Not the same girl

Get your mind outta the gutter!

As the name indicates, Lady G is always, first and foremost, a lady 😉

And so…

From time to time, I’d like to quickly share whatever I’m currently enjoying without going into full post mode.

You know how that is 😉

Anyway, for all of my neo-soul, acid jazz, soul throw-back fans, this is for you.

“We are on the move” by Zo! featuring Eric Robertson and Phonté.

I love this groove!

The video is reminiscent of The Whispers during their heyday with S.O.L.A.R. (Sound of Los Angeles Records).

Shout out to California natives, Dave and Tareau over at TheCouchSports blog for doing their podcasting thing on I-Tunes!

AND

While I’m shouting out….

Big up to K. E. Garland and her new book “The Unhappy Wife.”

They are on the move!

YAAASSSSS!

Eric Robertson doing that run and kick thing is killing me!

DEAD!

Holler back in comments 🙂

Enjoy your weekend my loves.

Lady G 😘💋

  1. Lmao I saw the title and was like … lemme find out?!?!! And then the first line cleared that up lol

I will have to look into the music you mentioned. I like neo soul to the extent that it includes Musiq soulchild, and I have not branched much outside of that. I’ll let you know what I think of them!!

    1. What’s up Bro Darryl? Always good to see you. I ain’t gonna lie, I started to worry that you had done started the revolution without me😃
No seriously. I’m a huge lover of music so I’m open to anything you want to introduce me to. My preference is soul/R&B but I love rappers that can intelligently spit FIRE!
Gotta have a good groove behind them too!

        1. OF COURSE!!! Now you talking!
          My Mint Condition jams were:
          “Pretty Brown Eyes”
          and
          “You send me Swanging.”
You need to check out blogger T. Wayne. He has a very nice collection of songs by Brian Culbertson.
Darryl, you got GREAT taste in music.
Not trying to be funny but that is unusual for my young’uns!
You know, me and Darryl Walker, Sr prolly the same age! LOL!!!!!
That’s why I be telling you to give him a break 🙂

        2. My family went to a Brian Culbertson concert 3 weeks ago. And we saw him in concert like 2 years ago. He was amazing both times. My girlfriend and my pops met him. He is great.

My dad has great taste in music. He is a DJ. I come from a musical family. We seem to have very similar taste in music. I’ll let him know you are saving him lmao

        3. Wow!! Mr. DW, Sr. is a DJ? How cool is that?
Man I would love to dig through his stuff!
I used to do this series called “My Jams” and it was on every Thursday. I covered years 1966-1996. I am going to pick the year that I think is closest to the year that you were born and post it here. By the way, it’s very hardcore and the language is really coarse. LOL!! Check it out!

        4. My family : die-hard Prince fans. We also saw Prince live in Connecticut. Great show. I have heard all his stuff. Listening to his stuff now hurts me a bit. I see references to Darling Nikki lol.

What you know about Sexy M.F. !!!?? Brian Culbertson did a cover of that song at his cover and I almost died lol

LOL. Yeah my father has good taste in music, you know … papa don’t take no mess. I am looking forward to thanksgiving this year, I have been trying to slim down a bit, so I will be asking him to … pass the peas. =D

Nice one Twin! Love “We Are On The Move!”

You may already know this, but Eric Roberson and Phonte have an album out that was just released a couple months ago. It’s called Tigallero (a combination of their nicknames). It’s good!

Also, you might remember this post I did about Toto’s “Africa” that featured a cover from Zo! and Phonte (aka Tigallo): https://joyfulprocessblog.com/2016/05/23/i-know-that-i-must-do-whats-right/

Thanks for leading me back here!

    1. I do remember that post but I did not put the artists together. Seems like I would have recognized them because I’ve been knowing Eric R. for a minute. Kinda strange huh?
Thanks for the info about their new album. I gotta check that out.

  3. Here it is practically Wednesday and I am just now giving this a look-see. Love this, and thank you for bringing it back. HehHeh … I was kinda “What’d I just see?” with the kicking 👀 and was a bad girl (Y……..SSSSS!!) 😜 watching the video before reading your post and then had to laugh at you talking about it killing you all the way. Too funny. Thank God he wasn’t doing that in Softest Kiss. You have me all up into curling in with the gentleman Barry White now. Rest his soul.

      Just teasing gorgeous!
I am so glad that you like this jam and I can just imagine you laughing and doing the run kick thing all the way home on Fridays 🙂

  6. Call me crazy, Lady G but this groove reminded me so much of the late 70’s early 80’s sound. I could almost hear Bobby Caldwell’s, “What You Won’t Do For Love” and the Whispers “Rock Steady” which were 2 of my favs back in the day. This song is a bit more up tempo than Caldwell but the bass line was killer.

    1. No ma’am I cannot call you crazy because you are right.
Although the song is fairly current (2013-2014 I think) it was crafted to give off that late ’70’s early ’80’s vibe.
I love the songs that you ‘heard’ in the groove. T. Wayne and I dig some Bobby Caldwell; especially “What you won’t do for love.” We also love anything by the Whispers. Whenever, I think of Bobby Caldwell, I also think of Gino Vannelli and “I just wanna stop.”
and YAAASSSS, that bass is the business!

      1. Dear Lord, Lady G! I haven’t thought of Mr. Vannelli since the 70’s! LOL. I always like being introduced to groups I haven’t met before. BTW, have you ever heard Go West’s take on Caldwell’s song? It is pretty faithful! Looking forward to your next groove. Now, I must get on the Grooveline with some Heatwave! 😉

        1. Girl, see you, me and T. Wayne are <<>> on that music thang!
So….If you are not faint of heart, you need to go check out “My Jams” which is a series that I did that surveyed soul and r&b from years 1966-1996. Warning, I use tons of adult language and talk about a whole lot of controversial stuff. I think the series ended right before we connected. You can find it on my site in the category for Music under “My Jams.”
          I think you’ll love it 🙂

But I will and I will tweet you so you can see what I done did when I done done it😂
