If I recall correctly, there is an old song that exclaims, “If you can’t be with the one you love, you gotta love the one you’re with!”
Who am I kidding? I don’t need to recall anything, I know Stephen Still’s jam backward and forward!
YAAASSSS!
Well today, I had to love the store-bought corn with crab chowder I was with.
Trust me, by the time I’d finished putting a little affection and ‘Gwin spin’ on this chowda, every diner at my dinner table was satisfied!
So here’s what I did to make things more interesting.
First, I grabbed a random brand of corn and crab chowder that I purchased a few days ago.
Side note: In general, the brand doesn’t really matter because I always doctor it up with my own blend of herbs, spices, veggies, fruits, meats and magic✨
Next, I simmered the chowder in a saucepan and seasoned it with a bit of salt.
Since I had some avocado and shrimp on hand, I decided to invite them to the party.
Basically, I sautéed the shrimp with that Hoodoo that I do 🙂
Just kidding! But not really 😉
Anyway, after fully heating the chowder, I spooned it into a bowl and topped it with the sautéed shrimp.
I then added the avocado that I mentioned before.
Lastly, in order to truly set it off, I added black pepper.
Et voilà!
Or in the words of the great Andy Griffith, “She’s done and done!”
Now, I recently purchased a small bowl of gumbo which I also plan to love with that Gwin spin!
As I think about it, I’ll probably add some extra spices, crawfish and andouille sausage-or whatever else I fancy.
In case you hadn’t noticed, the primary point of this post is to encourage you to work with what you have in your pantry in order to make your store-bought soups, stews or chowders better.
Hence my reference to Stephen Still’s masterpiece!
Wait for it…
YAAASSSS!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend my loves!
Lady G
😘💋
I think I’d like to hear The Isley Brother’s take on this whole thing 😉

That’s cosmic Gwin, out of all those bits and pieces a heavenly body is brought into being.
And that reminds me, I had the Stephen Stills first album back in 1970, now I can get it again on my Spotify!

Awww..thank you so much! I’m glad that you liked it and that you could ‘see’ me! LOL!!!
So happy that you decided to stop by my way.
BTW, MUCH RESPECT to you for keeping the suffix “Jr.” on your name in the blogging world. My 22 year old son is a “Jr.” and it is very important to him (and me) that we honor and acknowledge “Sr.” Clearly, you feel similarly.
I dig that 🙂

Oh, absolutely with the suffix. I can understand your son entirely. I feel that my entire identity resides in those two letters.
Whenever I get a letter in the mail and they leave those two letters off, I feel totally invalidated. It doesn’t help that my father’s credit score is AWFUL – and I would hate to be mistaken for him if someone ever pulls his name up for a background check lmao.

“My father’s credit score is awful!” No you didn’t! ROTFLMAO!!!!!!
Practicality is important my friend! LOL!!
But seriously, my son feels exactly the same about leaving off the “Jr.”

Question: does your son have a child? If he does/ wants to – what is/ will he name the child if its a boy? I would never have a Darryl the III because its too much of an identity thing for me

I can see your point about your identity and your name.
My son doesn’t have any children yet (Thank God!).
But he has said that he might consider a Tré. He’s also said that he wants to name one of his sons after my father and brother (They are Sr. and Jr.) but give him a different middle name.
One of my besties had a son by a 4th. I remember her saying , “Oh hell no!” I got to stop this madness! So she named him something totally different! LOL!! She cut it off at 4.

That’s a good idea with the middle name! Lmao @ your bestie cutting off the tradition at 4. That is a bit much. Whenever I be seeing history books and they be talking about some dude named “King Henry the 16th” I sound just like your girl: oh helllllll no lmao

LOL!! Or the random use of “Jr.”
Daddy name: Roosevelt Jenkins
Child name: Shawn Jenkins, Jr.
Ok where da “Shawn” come from?

Great tune there Lady G! AND, wow, sounds like an amazing dinner! Okay, I’m going to have to figure out how I can combine things to make a tasty little stew or soup from items in my pantry! You’re wonderful inspiration!! 😀

Hey Paula! Thank you doll! I have found that if I keep my veggies out on the counter I will remember to cook them. If I throw them in the fridge, they go into hiding and die a slow sad death! LOL!!!
So I’d say keep those veggies where you can see them all and then think about how they might pair with something kinda basic 🙂
For example, sometimes, I’ll cook rice in beef or chicken stock and then add some chopped veggies to it!
Delicious!
