Man oh man!  For me, this jam is right up there with “It’s A Shame” by The Spinners!

Here, we have a song that urges us to pay attention to the folks around us:

“You know some people are made of plastic, some people are made of wood…”

Baby those are real musicians and singers backing that sage advice!

Now, when you add all of that wonderfulness together, a masterstroke is whatcha get!

I’m getting chill bumps just thinking about all of the low, mid and high vocal ranges that are to be relished in this musical pièce de résistance!

Weeeee!

Classic smooth soul at its best!

Flat out, what woman can resist a man with a beautiful falsetto singing, “All I want to do is love you…”

YAAASSS!

Uh oh!

Sorry y’all, I got carried away!

(Ahem..cough…cough…)

Friends, the world is filled with fake and phony people.

Sometimes they are obvious.

Sometimes they are not.

That said, you must always govern yourself accordingly when relating to others.

Frankly, it’s best to learn to develop an internal focus.

Get into you!

Because, in the end, you are the only person that you have control over.

And with that thought in mind, consider today’s affirmation:

“I am committed to staying true to myself.”

Ah… but I warn you, that’s going to take some doing!

Why?

Because a big part of the process is finding out what it means to be your true self.

And thus the journey begins!

Dramatics?  What say you?

          Have you ever heard his jam inner visions?
          When you were much younger the R&B singer Ginuwine sampled it for his song “Anything/Sorry” Check it out:

I am not a big Ginuwine fan (although I did see him in concert because he was the opening act for Musiq and Brian McKnight, and all he did was walk around, talk his shirt off, and he didn’t even sing “Differences” lol) so I would not know about this song. But this is a great song! The songs match up perfectly.

          Okay. I want your honest opinion on a song. I have been racking my brain for the past month or so. I am sure you have listened to Mariah Carey. Please listen to her song called “Babydoll” and tell me what other R & B hit song by a woman it sounds like. Specifically, please listen to the first verse and the chorus … the pace and beat and all that. Does it remind you of anyone else?!! I swear there is another song riding up underneath this, or that this was heavily inspired by another song that this song is trying to swagger-jack lol

      Roger, here’s something interesting. The UK has been very instrumental in keeping soul music alive for years now.
      T. Wayne has been keeping up with it for quite a long time.
      I’m just now being introduced to what they’ve been doing over there. I really dig everything I’ve heard so far–I’m still catching up 🙂

        I’ve read about the soul side of the music scene, but have not kept up to date, and like many other things have a deal of catching up to do (hence Spotify).
        Who do you recommend?

        1. Hi Roger. I’m sending this message from 1982 as I have left 2016! Don’t know if I’m coming back! LOL!!!!
          Anyway, to your question,
          T. Wayne introduced me to Omar from the UK.
          I found and enjoy this little ditty. Very unique—As a trained musician and vocalist he is fusing something like ska, reggae, psychedelic, soul and funk in this jam. That’s a tall order but he nails it!
          I love the crispness of his vocals and all of the instruments.

  6. Lady G- I have always been a what you see is what you get kind of girl. It has gotten me in trouble more times than I can remember. Sometimes being true to yourself means clearing out the negativity in your life and paring down to the bare necessities. I am happy to have authentic and genuine people in my life now. I count my blessings. Great post!
