Real Good Food: For The Fellas

Edited 1/31/2017

Ok ladies, you know I love you but this one is for the fellas!

Because I feel strongly that more men need to learn how to cook real good food!

No more ‘getting by’ meals.

No more ‘struggle bus’ meals.

No more scrambled eggs…

OR cereal…

OR oatmeal…

OR cookies…

OR Toast…

OR noodles for dinner!

No more of that!

Lady G got you!

And so…

Today, I am offering a simple, inexpensive and unassuming dish that does not require too much effort.

Here’s what you need:

  1. A package of boneless, skinless chicken cutlets (season them to your liking)
  2. A bottle of Italian Salad Dressing (Most any brand will do)- You won’t need the whole bottle!  Just eyeball it 🙂
  3. 1 chopped tomato
  4. Canola Oil (about a Tbsp per each cutlet)
  5. Non-stick spray

That’s it!

  1. Set the oven to 350 degrees
  2. Saturate the bottom of a deep baking dish with non-stick spray.
  3. Coat your cutlets with the canola oil and place them in the dish (It’s okay if they overlap a little)
  4. Pour on Italian Salad Dressing
  5. Place chopped tomatoes on top
  6. Cover the dish
  7. Put the dish in the oven
  8. Bake for 30 minutes

Here’s how it’ll look before cooking:

Don’t move because we’re not finished.

I’d like to challenge you to make a quick bowl of rustic mashed potatoes.

Stop sweating!

This is a simple dish so you can stop visualizing yourself in a military mess hall peeling bags of potatoes!

For today, all you need to do is take two large potatoes, cut them into medium sized cubes (I keep the peels on) and boil them until tender–use a fork to check for doneness.

Once the potatoes are done and drained, put them in bowl then add salt to taste, about 2 tablespoons of butter and 3/4 cup of whipping cream (Regular milk works too).

I’ve found that you should start with a minimal amount of cream then add more if your potatoes appear to be too dry looking.

Fellas, these potatoes are not pretty but they are delicious and they will, as the old folks say, fill a crack!

I prefer stiff mashed potatoes, some people like them creamy and wet.

OK, to round this little culinary experiment out, employ your microwave to prepare some frozen broccoli.

We did NOT do the broccoli ’cause we were too hungry to wait.

Here’s the final product:

Hey, let me know if you tried this dish.  I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Love and light to the ladies and the fellas!

Lady G 😘💋

    1. Did I call you out with the cereal fam? LOL!!!
Lady G gonna have to teach you how to cook a few simple meals so you don’t have to depend on NOBODY! LOL!!!
Keep coming by, I’ll get you straight!

  2. Culinary skills are not determined by sex. There are only two kitchen appliances I use with any regularity: the fridge and microwave. All the young men whose grandmother I could be have learned to cook for purposes of seduction. That seem to be a great inducement! :)))

I should forward this to my brothers. Yes, that was shade. lol I always love it when a guy says they can cook and I say, “Oh really what is your speciality?” And they say, “I make a mean [insert breakfast staple]” I’m like every guy says that! lol Poor things really think they are doing something with that. I guess it’s better than nothing though. I also love breakfast so I could work with that, right after I laugh at them. lol

  4. Lady G, I am pescatarian, but whatever the recipe here is beside the point – because I totally love your sentiment. While my husband had many wonderful qualities, its not small added benefit that he loves to cook – & dance!

If I were a guy, I would cook & dance – whatever the sexual orientation, a man who can do both (& clean house – woa!!!) is sure to never ever be lonely – LOL

    1. Daal, if a guy cooks, dances, AND cleans – I would keep that to myself! I don’t want no body else getting wind of that and stealing him ;;;LOL
Seriously though, you have a CATCH there!!! Don’t go throwin’ him back into the sea now ….lol

    2. Daal…
You’re in luck because I have tried this with fish and shrimp too!
I just cut the time and watch for the fish to become opaque–usually about 15 to 20 minutes depending on thickness.
BTW, I love all those things that you just described in a man!
You are quite lucky my friend 🙂

      1. ah – why didn’t I think of that? makes perfect sense? I tried it with shrimp & its still making my mouth water to think about!

Love that you don’t let them get by with instant mashed potatoes 🙂

  5. This looks like the perfect meal to hint at for valentines. I love that cleanup is easy too! For me, there’s nothing sexier than a man that starts a romantic evening cooking. But for some reason, I clean up the dishes the next day ;(

  7. he’s cooking me red snapper on the grill tonight, with a shrimp pasta side dish (frozen aisle but that’s cool, I picked it out). Chicken on the list later this week, but down here, we grill year round. My fave Italian is Wish Bone Robusto, lots of flavor and bits of goodness in it. Taters look awesome, mmmmm….real live cream? You’re dangerous to my diet Miss! 🙂
