Fractions…
I can’t say that I’ve always been a fan.
At least, not unless there’s something in it for me 🙂
And today there is!!!
So…
Oxford Living Dictionaries defines the term ‘fraction’ thusly:
A numerical quantity that is not a whole number (e.g. 1/2, 0.5).
YAAASSSS!
Now put that under your cap for ’bout 2 seconds.
For this challenge, the rules say that I’m supposed to choose one song for your listening pleasure.
That said, I’m gonna ride all over the top of that rule by advising you to ONLY listen to 1/5th of each of five of my favorite Pop/Rock jams from my high school days.
Trust me, It makes no difference to me which 1/5th of a jam you choose to listen too.
FRACTIONS! Get it?
Five fifths equals one whole!
I think….Oh well!
LOL!
And now here they are….
Too Shy by Kajagoogoo
Head over Heels by Tears for Fears
Our House by Madness (Actually this jam was released a little before I started high school)
New Moon on Monday by Duran Duran
Owner of a Lonely Heart by YES (Not the original lead but a damn good high quality version)
YAAASSS! Lady G believes in staying in compliance.
So y’all better COMPLY! LOL!
Today I am going to nominate Cory Melancon and Ellie P to participate in this challenge. Both of these bloggers have very interesting and eclectic styles!
I think you’ll enjoy them!
Cory and Ellie P, you have the freedom not to participate but I sure hope you do!
Lady G
😘💋
What a clever way to cheat the system 😉

Fabulous! That right there is a great running playlist… or at least the start of one, :D. Madness have another one that is equally wonderful called Baggy Trousers. We didn’t get it over here, but as James is from the UK, he’s well versed with it. It’s another one of those foot tapping, happy little ditties, 😀

Wow! I didn’t know that he was from the UK.
Very interesting.
I’ll have to search for “Baggy Trousers.” I just knew that you guys would be loving this little play list of sorts!
Brings back such good memories for so many of us!

Of course! “Don’t you forget about me is quintessential ’80’s” But I figured 5 was already pushing it! LOL!!!
Thanks for stopping by Kim 🌹💞

Good selection Gwin
Apart from Owner of a Lonely Heart, I learnt all of these because of my pre-teen and teenagers daughters (and I don’t know why the heck I should like ‘Too Shy’, either it’s so wrong for me…..ohhhh…doh!).
Never listened to ‘Yes’ back in the day (‘too popular’ – I wuz a jerk), discovered them in recent years; quite a fan now.
Keep up with the good selections Gwin!

LOL!!! Another blogger mentioned liking “Too Shy.” I told her that it was one of my favorites of all time–like you, it just hits me somewhere that I don’t understand! LOL!
I actually just noticed that most if not all of there guys are from the Isles! LOL!
Artists from the UK were all the rage back then!

That they were. There was a kind of kick back against punk, as punks got older and new teenagers came along…..The New Romantics as I recall was the label for all the bands (who naturally then said they were not New Romantics)..ahh musical memories!

I didn’t know that. There is always something to learn. I can definitely see these as anti-punk! LOL!!! Such great memories for me 🙂

Quite a few good selections in the bunch, Lady G. Bringing back the memories. Nothing like 80s music to get you motivated for this challenge.

Hey Girlfriend! Sounds like you have been having great fun with this song challenge. Well done! It’s been fun seeing this side of you with quite an eclectic choice of music and the memories that go with it.😀 So I followed your instructions on this one and listened in fractions. Many of these songs were the backdrop to my growing years though I’d place myself more in the pop genre than Rock. Now I haven’t had much success influencing my children’s choice of music but we’re finally together on Tears for Fears so I’m glad to see them on your list. I was sorry not to be able to participate in Lisa’s challenge but as a compromise, I thought I’d share a few songs here with you. Perhaps you’ll know one or two. These take me back the way yours do. When I listen to these songs now, I wonder what made me like them but they do remind me of carefree childhood days of hopping and skipping to the shop to by (Candy) sweets and climb trees and sing these very songs without fully comprehending them. Hope you don’t mind me piggybacking here!🌹🌹

What a pleasure it is to see you my love! And girl…I hollered when I saw Tony Orlando and Dawn because I did a post awhile back that talks about how this song was always being played on the radio early in the morning when I was a kid. I love it! It hits me in my wistful zone!
You know, Chevvy, I see a trend here in both of our selections—a longing for simpler times.
The song “Our House” literally makes me cry when they speed up the lyrics:
“I remember way back then when everything was true and when
We would have such a very good time such a fine time
Such a happy time
And I remember how we’d play, simply waste the day away
Then we’d say nothing would come between us
Two dreamers”
That verse right there makes me tear up every.single.time! LOL!!!
BTW, I feel so honored that you decided to drop these beauties right here!
Love Ya Chev!

I’m so glad you got my message – it just disappeared so I thought you hadn’t got it. Funny, I was watching a little video clip yesterday that speaks to how our generation grew up – for example playing out there until the lights came on or when we were called for dinner. Yes, I guess we do long for those simple times. I suppose listening to these songs does put a perspective on life. Even if life was hard, maybe it was hard for all of us but it many ways it was also liberating and made us who we are if we survived.
Hey, it’s great shooting the breeze with you. Much love to you too Dearest!

I’ve been having trouble with comments since I upgraded. Just bear with me.
And I agree, it wasn’t all peachy. Reaganomics was really breaking a lot of working class families in my youth but these are still some of the best days of my life. Of course, you guys had it much worse with all of the restrictions and segregation but there is something about being a child that gives you the ability to see things with a rose colored tinge! LOL! Always a pleasure gorgeous 🙂

Yes, I realised that and no worries. Yes the childhood lens can paint either a rosy or distorted picture. Heck, I don’t think I realised the full extent of our oppression until much later. Funny, I was chatting with a friend the other day and she was talking about her and three sister and twi parents being raised in a one bedroom apartment. As she said – we all grew up in similar fashion so we didn’t notice. I think it made us more imaginative and tenacious. Our children are somehow more fragile.
Hey, if you’re celebrating Easter , happy Easter to you and your family love! Best . Chevvy.💐

A nice mix of 80s songs, Twin! If I had to pick a favorite of these, I’d go with “Owner Of A Lonely Heart.” I loved that song back then…and just heard it the other day at work!

You remembered to listen to 1/5 of each one right? LOL!
I loved them all. Too Shy really takes me back!

Well, girl, I must be from some other planet cuz the only song I recognized was “Our House”! 😀 Of course, that could partly be due to the fact that I’m about 273 years old, and so somehow ‘missed out’ on many songs your generation wallowed – I mean, danced to! 🙂 Now. As far as your challenging me goes – I’m bad but I’m only gonna have time for an upload of one video. I’m glad to do it, but not sure I understand *where* i’m supposed to do this. Hallp! ❤

Oh come on Ellie! Your kids probably played these songs and they DANCED to them! LOL @ “wallowed!” You are one hilarious babe!
Anyway, I see that you got the one video up. I just grabbed these from Youtube. That’s what most everybody does 🙂
