Alternative Title: Strangers who unknowingly have a very important function in our lives.
With the “alternate title” in mind, I give you Gregory Morning!
NOT his real name, because I do NOT, in fact, know him, and probably never will!
But that’s neither here nor there.
Follow me now…
Lady J and I get up every morning at half-past the rooster’s crow in order to get to school in a timely manner.
Mind you, we are never at risk of being officially late.
However, I’ve found that if we leave after a particular point in time I’ll be stuck in traffic hell once I drop her off.
So, before the sun rises, I gently rouse Lady J—and subsequently keep her on task so that I can leave in time enough to avoid the snarl that I so dearly abhor.
Now, after Lady J has wiped the sleep from her eyes, eaten breakfast, taken a shower, brushed her teeth, gotten dressed, and packed up her grip, we’re off to the races!
Enter Gregory Morning.
A lanky uniformed fellow who walks the short distance from his house to the school that Lady J attends.
By the way, Lady J said he looks like a “Gregory.”
And so it is written into “law” that he shall always be known as Gregory 🙂
I gave him the last name “Morning” because that’s the only time of day that we see him.
Anyway…
Gregory, our dear friend that we do NOT know, functions as my unofficial timekeeper of sorts.
If Gregory is at the top of the hill; I’m doing good.
No traffic worries 🙂
If Gregory has made it to the traffic light, I am a bit behind.
Some traffic…Eh…it’s tolerable 😏
But…
God forbid, if Gregory is standing at the school’s entrance, I’m SCREWED 😱
It’s traffic all the way to more traffic and then some!
I simply cannot with all that!!!
And so…
If Gregory is standing at the school door, then I immediately know to go park somewhere until the madness dies down.
Hey, it gives me time to read my e-mails, WordPress notifications and Instagram messages.
Problem solved!
Long live Gregory!
Do you have a “Gregory Morning” in your life? Meet me in comments and tell me all about it!
Love and light to you,
LadyG 💋 💋
I used to meet a grey PT Cruiser each morning on the 20 mile stretch of country highway leading to my job. I could tell the time by where we met on the road.

What a fun story! I totally enjoyed it!! No, I don’t have a Gregory Morning in my life… I must abide by the Hickory Dickory Dock timepiece at all times, but thankfully AJ and I have it mastered down to the last minute… that is until he switches schools next year, ack! 😀

I do have a Gregory morning too. She’s a lady though. Driving to work every morning, she is always at the same spot, supposedly waiting for her ride. If she isn’t there I am so late- no traffic though. I look out for her every morning. I have been harboring this notion of stopping one day if I can and thank her or just do or say something nice to her. Probably ask her name too. Meanwhile, since you have yours named Gregory, I think it is high time I gave her a name- not Gregory of course! Will let you know when I do😀

I used to have a Gregory back when I still drove my son to school, but now it’s just the clock on the end table that I’ve never given a name to! 🙂 Wave to ol’ Gregory for me!

Uh, nope, I don’t have a “Gregory Morning” in my life. However, I do have this little thing called a “watch.” Somehow it’s always been able to signal to me when the bus is about to come, or when I’ve just missed it. It’s handy that way! 😀 ❤ 😀
