***Contains Adult Language

In this post, Ron and I conclude our family discussion on New Year’s traditions, beliefs and superstitions by offering our hopes for 2021.

Best believe we added some more commentary to those thoughts.

Join us as we talk about:

  • Our hopes for 2021 and the new Administration in the U.S.
  • The Saturn-Jupiter Conjunction
  • The Perseids Meteor Shower (August 1992) as opposed to LadyG calling it the Pleiades Meteorites
  • The fact that Eva didn’t give a shit
  • Decluttering: LadyG, the paper hoarder
  • How Google makes it easy for you to stay current and know your history–so why don’t you?
  • Dewey Decimal, the card catalog and being at the library all day!
  • Ron needing to do some teachin’

Unfortunately, we had to drop the 3rd cousin, Lady L, off to her own devices.

But you know the conversation between Ron and I marched on!

In part II we are talking about:

  • Lucky black-eyed peas and links to Rosh Hashanah, African cowpeas, live-stock, enslaved people and the Confederacy
  • “Throw away” foods during slavery
  • What the hell?  Ham hocks and ox tail, formerly throw away foods, cost waaaaaay too much these days.
  • Indigenous people working together to farm for food and for healing.
  • When Funeral Homes change into family homes or, even worse, restaurants
  • From cess pools to a waterfalls
  • “Hamlets” in Georgia? Really?

Of course, this conversation was inspired by my post on New Year’s traditions in the South.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to the first “A Family Conversation” audio post of 2021.

This post is extra special because one of our other cousins is joining our conversation.

It took some doing to get her to join us so we were very happy that she agreed to round out the chat!

Now… join us as we use my post, Your New Year’s “To Do” List, to talk about:

  • How Ron jinxed Creek
  • Some very superstitious people
  • Messin’ with folks’ luck
  • Every Southern Mom
  • How “doing” is just as important as “not doing”
  • Dragging trees
  • General sorry-ness
  • How “old” is NOT really “old”
  • Technicalities and clarifications on dirty clothes
  • Our major loss, “The Bon Vivant.”
  • Roy Clark
  • Pepto Bismol and where we got the gift of storytelling

Rest in Peace Uncle Leroy!

A Family Conversation (Part II): “5 Minutes to Midnight”

“A Family Conversation” is a storytelling audio series that features weekly discussions between blogging cousins LadyG and Ron Brown on current events along with favorite posts from each other’s blog.

***********************************************************************

In part II, we discuss the increasing darkness that we’ve seen during this year.

Ron’s piece, “5 Minutes to Midnight,” implores us to wake up before we find ourselves out of time.

Don’t worry, we find a way to infuse humor into the situation 🙂

A Family Conversation (Part I): “Shattered”

“A Family Conversation” is a storytelling audio series that features weekly discussions between blogging cousins LadyG and Ron Brown on current events along with favorite posts from each other’s blog.

************************************************************************

A mirror shattered into a thousand pieces;

A thousand different reflections;

A mystery which never ceases;

A future with infinite refractions.

-Ron Brown

In part I of today’s discussion, we discuss Ron’s poem, “Shattered.”

In this piece, Ron paints a sobering picture of how family violence can erupt into the unthinkable.

No doubt, this holiday season, with its additional stressors, will be exponentially difficult for victims of domestic violence.

We keep them in prayer.

Halloween Edition of A Family Conversation: More Ghosts, Witches, Magick, Negative Entities, Remote Sensing, & “The Client”(Part IV)

A Family Conversation, an ongoing conversation between blogging cousins, Ron Brown and Lady G, is celebrating the time of year when the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds becomes paper thin. This is the final edition for Halloween 2020

**********************************************************************

The cousins continue their supernatural conversation with real ghost stories prompted by LadyG’s post “The Client.”

Although you can easily follow along with each of these posts independently, it would be better to check out parts I , II  & III of this series beforehand.

Today’s audio completes this series. But, alas, there is always Halloween 2021. LOL!

And so…

Listen in as we talk about:

  • A settle to score? Naw girl….A score to settle
  • How we all become “a good person” when we die–no matter what we did in life
  • The fact that even a Scientist doesn’t want to  sleep in a haunted house
  • How LadyG was imprinted by “Bewitched”
  • The witches who are hexing Trump.
    • But then…What’s his magick?
  • Needing to control your mind or someone else will
  • Negative energy or entities stimulating negative emotions and thoughts
  • Ron out’chea “practicing magick”
  • The Remote Sensing Program
  • Waves in space and what ETs think about us?
    • Why is LadyG talking about distant Saturn? There’s probably no way that any wave of any sort has reached as far as Saturn from Earth. Geez!
  • Putting your work out there and realizing that people will love it or hate it
  • Encouraging and motivating each other to finish creative projects
  • Centenarians Uncle Ben, Our Grandma and the Deacon (Yes ,we got sidetracked!)
  • Uncle AJ’s rhetorical question

Then Ron brings us back! LOL!

Anyway, we enjoyed bringing this to you and we hope you enjoyed it! Let us know in comments.

Happy Halloween!

-Love and light always,

LadyG

Halloween Edition of A Family Conversation: Death, The Afterlife, The Spirit World & “The Client”(Part III)

A Family Conversation, an ongoing conversation between blogging cousins, Ron Brown and Lady G, is celebrating the time of year when the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds becomes paper thin.

************************************************************************

The cousins continue their supernatural conversation with real ghost stories prompted by LadyG’s post “The Client.”

Although you can easily follow along with each of these posts independently, it would be better to check out parts I & II of this series beforehand.

In today’s audio, we offer our pontifications on all things ghostly and mysterious–including:

  • Is death to be feared or welcomed?
  • Deathbed vision or dopamine?
  • Ghosts aren’t like Casper—they’re more realistic
  • Being clairsentient and feeling the spirits
  • Witches or devils riding people in their sleep? Sleep paralysis?—-Or something else?
  • Heaven, hell or purgatory? Why do ghosts hang around?
  • Where’s our consciousness located? Is it local to the body?
    • NOTE: LadyG mistakenly used the word “marionette” when she really meant to refer to the person who manipulates the strings of a marionette. 🤪
  • Old Grandmas from the South can scare the shit out of you!
  • Reanimated corpses are one of LadyG’s greatest fears
  • Monkey’s Paw
  • Mr. Garrity and the Graves

Enjoy,

Halloween Edition of A Family Conversation: Hoodoo, Voodoo and “The Client” (Part I)

A Family Conversation, an ongoing conversation between blogging cousins, Ron Brown and Lady G, is celebrating the time of year when the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds becomes paper thin.

***********************************************************************

For the remainder of this month, we are working with Ethereal Standard Time. That said, there’s no telling when these little ditties will be released.

But…

Posts will occur at the witching hour…..

The date is anybody’s guess so keep a watch….

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA…..*laughed LadyG using her very best Vincent Price transatlantic accent*

And so…

Today, we are discussing LadyG’s excerpt from her newest writing project that has yet to be named.

So, for the sake of sanity, we will refer to it as “The Client.”

Got it?

Good!

Now then, during this discussion, we touched on the following:

  • Popeyes chicken. C’mon….who would we be without talk of fried chicken?
  • Feeling protective of your writings
  • Voodoo, hoodoo, spiritual workers and all manner of magick and mystery
  • A reading of the excerpt (by LadyG)
  • Binding spells go all the way back to antiquity
  • Bounded and not knowing
  • Leave nothing to chance when dealing with magickal folks
  • Big strong ding-a-lings; yeah, we’re talking about that!

Enjoy,

A Family Conversation: The End of Eliza’s Grave…Or is it?

A Family Conversation, an ongoing conversation between blogging cousins, Ron Brown and Lady G, is celebrating the time of year when the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds becomes paper thin.

**********************************************************************

Are we at the end of the story or is this…”only the beginning….only just the start?”

…said LadyG singing from Chicago’s “Beginnings.”

At any rate, listen in as we add just a bit more insight to the conversation on Eliza’s Grave.

We also discuss our own family’s history with the “unseen,” including the fact that one of our family members was born with “the caul.”

Don’t know what that is?

In the South, we call that phenomenon “VEILS!”

To learn more…listen up 🙂

Thanks for listening and follow Ron at The Time Tunnel

Halloween Edition of A Family Conversation: Eliza’s Grave (Part II)

A Family Conversation, an ongoing conversation between blogging cousins, Ron Brown and Lady G, is celebrating the time of year when the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds becomes paper thin.

**********************************************************************

In this edition, Ron shares a bit more about the symbolism of “The Crow.”

We also ponder the following:

  • The mystery of a “real live” person’s grave and DNA Ancestry research… and yes I understand that this is an oxymoron-ish statement 😂
  • Whether Eliza’s ghost wants her story told
  • Transcending time and generational shared experiences
  • “Cassingles” aka cassette tapes usually featuring one song and possibly the “remix.”
  • Ron’s writing process

And…

Whether or not we believe that Universal ideas float around the atmosphere and are available to all.

Did Michael Jackson believe in this concept?

Does LadyG?

Ron has his doubts.

Anyway…
