Seek Understanding: What’s In a Name?

Sooo…

I started this blog in January of 2016.

It was, and still is, my intention and plan to create a space where people of all shapes, sizes, colors and such could come to find posts to edify, educate and motivate mind, body and spirit.

Naturally, it would be a reciprocal type of situation.

Anyway…

As I was thinking of names for the blog, I decided that I wanted to choose a moniker that expressed my desire to seek and find the best things in life–expressed via my own original creations or by presenting the works and/or findings of other talented writers, thinkers, bloggers, poets, educators, elders and storytellers.

However, when I searched the terms “seek” and “best” for the creation of my blog name, the only sensible title that was available, at the time, was “seekthebestblog.com.”

So I snatched it!

Ah…but then I later realized that this title could be misconstrued to mean something like…

Hey YOU!

Now that you have found my blog, you may now dispense with your tireless pursuit of creating or following other blogs because I got the BEST one right HERE BABY! SERIOUSLY, LOOK NO FURTHER!

JUST STOP!

YIKES!

EEK!

BLEH!

Oh well, the damage had been done so I had to run with it!

I simply hoped that people would understand the intent behind the blog’s title once they read the tagline:

“Seeker of the best that life has to offer!”

My God…I can only pray!

LOL!

That said, join me as I continue to seek the BEST!

A Family Conversation: Ron Brown and LadyG Discuss the Cool Uncle’s Story

Cool Uncle aka Daddy (Sembach Airbase 1965)

“A Family Conversation” is a storytelling audio series that features weekly discussions between blogging cousins LadyG and Ron Brown on current events and featured blog posts.

*************************************************************************************

“My uncle was as cool as a ’65 Thunderbird!”

-Ron Brown

Yep, that’s precisely how Ron describes my Daddy’s vibe from his younger days as a MP in the United States Air Force.

Folks said he was as cool as a cucumber…

A tall drink of water…

A pretty redbone…

Clearly, LadyG loves a good cliché

LOL!

All that aside, Ron’s cool uncle tells some awesome tales from his post-military days working on the railroad in the late 1960’s through the late 1990’s.

And so…

We invite you to join us in today’s sessions as we talk about Ron’s cool uncle (my Dad) RailroadConductor67’s post, “Santa’s Helper.”

As usual, Ron and I often found ourselves sidetracked!

Our conversation quickly galloped from Lysol to Clorox to wild game to storytelling where it crashed, head on, into Rickie Lee Jones.

But it gets better considering the fact that Rickie Lee wasn’t supposed to be a part of the dialogue.

AT.

ALL!

(Warning, a shift from first to third person is coming up so that I may distance myself from “LadyG”)

Yeah, so, you see, it all started when LadyG went on this tangent about Tommy Lee Jones, whom she thought was named Rickie Lee Jones.

Just so you know, Rickie, the female singer, should NEVER be confused with Tommy, the male actor.

They aren’t even kinda the same.

But of course, LadyG cannot be bothered with “facts.”

And, if you stick around to listen to the part 2 audio in this post, you will hear this for yourself.

Anyway…

Remember, you can find my Daddy, Ron’s cool uncle, here under category:  “True Railroad Stories”

You can also find Ron Brown under category “Ron’s Time Tunnel” and at his blog “Time Tunnel”

Audio does includes some adult language

Part 1 Run time: 30 minutes

Part 2 Run time: 25 minutes

I’m Good!

Update post pic

It’s been a couple of weeks since I last pecked out a post on the old typewriter 🙂

And no, I have not lost interest in blogging…

I’ve just been busy with life stuff.

No worries though, it’s been mostly sunny with a few scattered showers but that’s to be expected right?

I plan to pick back up with new posts some time in mid to late May.

Meanwhile, I’ll be trolling your blogs—in a good way! 🤣

A special thanks to those who reached out via e-mail!

I appreciate that very much.

By the way, if you are interested, you can always poke around on my Instagram page to see what I’m up to.

I’ll be ‘seeing’ you guys soon 🙂

Love and light to you all!

Lady G 😘💋

Belief in Coincidence?

ladyjpurplehat

Do you believe in coincidences?

I do.

And then again I don’t.

Say what Lady G?

Ok, I’ll admit that I have mixed feelings about the term ‘coincidence.’

I find it too sterile.

Seems too scientific.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Science, it has always been one of my favorite subjects.

However, at times, I find that discipline’s lens to be a bit myopic.

Simply put, human connection, in reality, occurs on a Universal realm that is ever so complex, and thus, cannot be reliably replicated through research.

Having said that, several years ago I read a book entitled When God Winks  by Squire Rushnell.

That book validated my own thoughts about ‘coincidence’ and ‘synchronicity.’

Rushnell refers to these as winks from God.

You gotta love that!

Anyway…

I’ve experienced  MANY ‘winks’ from God relative to bloggers that I follow.

The most recent one was with Kim from “Peace, Love and Patchouli.”

Here’s how it went down.

My daughter, Lady J, was selected to act as one of the narrators for her school’s Christmas play.

Her teachers instructed us to dress her in all black so as not to be a distraction from the play actors.

Well, Lady J and I hatched a plan to jazz that thing up!

Yes, she’d wear black….but not all black!

This elementary fashionista wanted a pop of color!

I agreed!

The morning of the play, I went shopping for a black top with black bottoms.

Got the top.

Got the bottoms.

Done and done.

My last task was to find the perfect colored piece to accentuate her otherwise boring ensemble 😉

Well as soon as I walked into an accessory shop, I spotted a purple hat –replete with all things sparkly!

That was the HAT!

SOLD!

Fast forward…

After getting back home and settling in from my shopping, I turned on my laptop to check messages on the blog and to try to catch up on some reading.

As I scrolled through my feed I happened across Kim’s post “Purple Hat.”

Now, I don’t want to spoil the plot, but I will say that it is a story of great courage!

After I read it, I knew that I had chosen the perfect hat for a little girl who would need to be brave enough to stand before an auditorium filled with people to narrate a play.

So I told Lady J the story of Kim’s purple hat and she loved it!

Fast forward some more…

Later that night Lady J ripped it while wearing a purple hat in Kim’s honor!

YAAASSSS!

I hope that you will read “Purple Hat.”

And I pray that it brings you as much warmth and motivation as it has brought us!

Thanks Kim for telling your story 🌹

Much love and light to you all!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Lady G 😘💋

Remember, God winks!

PS:  Forgive the typos, Lady G is still recovering 🙂
