Halloween 2018 Final Shenanigans with Pictures!

LadyG as Queen of Earth! She looks a bit miffed ūüôā LOL!

(Excuse any typos, we’re in the thick of it!)

So, now that we have settled on the fact that Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, it seems most appropriate to share some scenes from my 2018 Halloween shenanigans.

Now…

Let’s start with a bit of charity.

Earlier today, I spent this afternoon giving candy to kids at the local children’s hospital.¬† It really was very humbling—it reminded me to appreciate the health and wholeness of my own children.

If you ever get the opportunity to do something like that please do. Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming and the kids are always in need of good cheer.

Naturally, I could not take any pictures for privacy reasons.

And so….

After that, I came home, ordered Pizza, pulled out the six (6) carmel-nut candy apples that I got from Kroger for…..wait for it….$2.00–that’s right, I said TWO DOLLARS.

Anyway, I filled a cat-faced “cauldron” with candy for trick or treaters.

Of course, I baked some cookies; that’s a given!

Best believe, my house is a freaking mess; but we are having a ball!  BTW, my Dad is here!  He never misses Halloween at my house!

Next on the agenda was to cue up Youtube to watch an old cheesy ABC Halloween movie from 1985 called “The Midnight Hour.”¬† I love that movie! How many of you remember that one? if you do, please hit me up in comments because most people have never heard of it but I love it!¬† 1985….the good old days!¬† Here is the link

After that, we’ll watch:

Fat Albert’s Halloween Special

Garfield Halloween

It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!

and finally, Ichabod Crane (Disney’s Legend of Sleepy Hollow)

And we EAT!!!!!

And so it goes…every year on Halloween!

Enjoy the scenes!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Halloween! It’s What We Do

Halloween! ¬†It’s what we do ūüėČ

By ‘we’ I mean me, my son, Sir R, and my daughter, Lady J!

Warning: ¬†If you are one of those folks that don’t¬†do Halloween for religious purposes, I respectfully encourage you to¬†feel free to browse and find another post that is more to your liking.

Lady G is not about being offensive.

So, with that said, please bypass!

Now, for those of you who are either covert or overt lovers of Halloween, I urge you to stick around and let me stimulate some of your fondest fall holiday memories!”

OK, as the opening line implies, I am a Halloween nut!

You see it all started back in the mid to late 1970’s when Mama would take me and Tack¬†trick or treating.

We’d have a ball knocking on doors in order to collect and¬†stockpile chocolates, bubblegums, and hard candies.

We trashed the candy corn–but who didn’t?

Candy corn is to Halloween as fruitcake is to Christmas!

Yuck!

Anyway, for my brother and I, October was an all around exciting month because, apart from trick or treating, we’d also get to go to the fair!

Well….that’s if we raked up all the freaking pine straw in the front yard first!

Yeeeaaaaah, that was one of Daddy’s rules.

Nevertheless, we were happy to rake the yard so that we could hurry to the fair.

The sights, the smells, the music! Talk about a good time!

Whaaaa?

Don’t worry, I’ll tell you more about the fair¬†later in the month.

Anyway, back to Halloween.

As I am sure you can recall, during the week of Halloween, the major television networks would air old scary movies and Halloween specials!

Remember, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown?”

How ’bout The classic Disney version of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow?”

Both of those are part of my collection!

YAAASSS!!

Back then, Tack and I lived for those cartoons!

Every time we¬†saw the¬†little ‘intro’¬†that the networks played¬†to indicate that a “Special Presentation” would be replacing¬†regular TV programming, we were SHOOK!!!!!

To the core!

Seriously, what kid in the ’70’s didn’t¬†get excited knowing that “60 minutes” was being replaced with “The Paul Lynde Halloween Special?”

Now wait a minute…

Who in fresh hell was Paul Lynde?

Most of us had not a clue, but, the fact was, he had done a Halloween Special–and that’s all we needed to know ūüėČ

Those were the good old days, and I simply refuse to let them go!

Therefore, I go ALL out for Halloween!

Baby, I take it much farther than my Mama ever did!

To date, my partners in crime are my kids and my Dad!

Just so you know, for Mama, Halloween was pretty cut and dry. She gave out candy and took us trick or treating.

That’s it! That’s all!

PERIOD!

As for Tack, these days, he could take it or leave it.  Although he was younger than I was, he outgrew Halloween rather early.

I never did!

And so…

Today, Lady J and I will put out all of the Halloween decorations.  We should have done it sooner but we got busy over the weekend.

Here’s ONE of the boxes we’ll pull from:

halloween

Once we get everything in place, I’ll do a post¬†showing¬†how it all turned out!

Anyway, along with our other Halloween festivities, Lady J and I will be watching all kinds of scary movies for the remainder of the month.

Oh yes,  I have some serious opinions about scary movies.

So does Lady J!

We will be sharing those opinions–and more with you very soon.

Until next time!  Happy Haunting!

Meet me in comments and tell me about some of your favorite memories of Halloween.

Do you still celebrate it?  If you live in another country, please tell us about your fall traditions.
