Real Good Food: Of Crab and Carbs

Crab Stuffed Mushrooms

So based on your advice, I decided to start cutting back on carbs.

In the interim, I will put on my stretch pants, walk and modify the remaining macronutrient proportions by cooking meals that are high in protein and moderately low in fat.

Oops…I almost forgot the water…I’ll be drinking lots and lots of water…(loaded with Crystal Light)

🙂

We’ll see what happens in due season.

Thanks for all of your advice guys!

Until we meet again, I bid you a Happy Wednesday!

Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram…just click the Instagram icon there on the right panel of this page…I’m not locked! LOL!

Here’s a video of my alter-alter ego, Big Thickem, having a bite of this crab situation!

YAAASSS!

AND…

My girl Sandra shared this picture of her specialty: Crab Fried Rice!

Delicious!

Uh Oh…We Got A Problem…

Breakfast comparison
Today’s Breakfast (L) compared to yesterday’s breakfast (R)

Yes folks!  We got a PROBLEM.

You see, the button on my pants has distanced itself from the button-hole!

Methinks the lady doth partake in too much ‘real good food!’

And now…

She looking all pitiful ’cause her clothes is too tight 🙂

What to do?  What to do?

Should we go:

Low calorie?

Low fat?

Low carb?

Many mini meals?

One meal?

Eat like a king for breakfast, a prince for lunch and a pauper for dinner?

Good grief!

This is such a first world problem to have.

But it is a problem nonetheless.

So what do you all do when your pants start struggling?

The Flowering Vine: Mother’s Diet, Fashion, and Beauty Tips

mother-and-daddy
My Daddy and my Grandmother (We all call her Mother)  (1992)

Dear Gwin or LadyG or whoever you call yourself when you write,

This is Mother, and I just want to let you know that I’ve been reading those blots that you and Ronnie have and I enjoy them very well.

I’ve also been looking around at other blots and I’ve found people talking about all kinds of things.

So, with that in mind,  I thought I might try writing a blot about how to keep yourself up after you turn 80.

I am hoping that your readers will appreciate this advice as it will stand the test of time.

Now…

Diet:

I keep my meals pretty simple.  You know the doctor said I was borderline diabetic so I have to watch my sugar.  That being the case, I usually eat 2 small cookies with my lunch and my dinner.

Listen now, don’t ever eat sweets between meals ’cause it won’t balance out–your sugar will go too high.  You always need something with it to keep it from shooting up.

Oh and I don’t drink full sugar drinks, I like diet Pepsi with my meals.

Fashion:

Always, always, always make sure your pants and skirts have elastic in the waist so you can be comfortable wherever you go.

A good pair of ear-bobs will help you to look nice and neat.

Beauty:

I bathe with Ivory soap and I always put Oil of Olay on my face; it keeps my skin from wrinkling.

If I’m going out, I use some scissors to cut off any stray hairs that crop up on my chin.

Since my hair started turning gray, I’ve been using V05 hair cream to keep it from going yellow.

Gwin, ain’t nothing worse than a head full of gray hair with a yellow cast to it.

Also make sure you use a good sponge roller for your bangs.

Well, that’s it for now.

I hope that some of your readers will find these tips useful.  I’ll go down in the comment section for a little while to answer questions. Tell your readers to begin their comments with “Dear Mother” if they want to talk to me about my blot.

Otherwise, they can talk to you.

Sincerely,

-Mother

Sunday Dinner with Lady G’s Son 10-16-2016

sun-son-meal-3
Steak tips with mushrooms, spinach, apricot glazed butternut squash and basmati rice

So last Sunday, I shared a shot of my Sunday dinner.

In that post I talked about how much I love to cook and eat.  I also shared that I learned to cook by watching Mama.

Well…

Apparently, I wasn’t the only one watching Mama; it seems that my dear son, Sir R, was taking a couple of notes of his own.

Ever since he was about 10 years old, Sir R, has been very interested in cooking. And, with that being the case, he would watch me, Mama and Daddy whenever we went into the kitchen to prepare a meal.

In addition, he watched episode after episode of “Good Eats” with Alton Brown.

Before I knew anything, this kid was preparing full course meals by age 11.

When I say full course, I mean FULL COURSE!

Did I tell you about the time he cooked the most delectable and succulent standing rib roast you could ever imagine when he was only about 15 years old?

YAAASSSSS!

No frozen pizzas and ramen noodles for this dude 🙂

My baby can throw down in the kitchen–as evidenced by the meal pictured above 😉

To be honest, I’m glad too.

I used to tell him, “You need to learn how to cook whatever you like to eat, I don’t want you marrying somebody just because she can cook your favorite dish!”

LOL!

Forgive me guys, I crack my own self up sometimes 🙂

Anyway, a couple of years after graduating high school and going off to college, Sir R decided to become a certified personal trainer.

He had already established and maintained a healthy lifestyle so I encouraged him to go ahead and make it official.

And so…

As a health nut  health enthusiast, and lover of good food, my baby boy digs creating nutritious versions of most any traditional dish.

To that end, he enjoys experimenting with unconventional ingredients in order to prepare balanced meals that are both cost effective and tasty.

Believe it or not, you don’t have to spend a whole lot of money to eat healthfully!

Anyway…

I really wish you guys were here to partake of this meal with us 😉

Any thoughts?  I’d love to hear them!  Meet me in comments 🙂

Enjoy the rest of your day and I pray that you have a blessed week !

Love Lady G and Sir R!

😘💋
