Why Waiting For The “Best Circumstances” Is A Bad Idea

And sure enough even waiting will end…if you can just wait long enough.

William Faulkner

(Video below)

The pandemic did a helluva job shining a light on things that I had once been unable– or unwilling to see.

For me, a beam of searing white-hot light illumined the fact that I’ve had a horrendous case of waiting for (INSERT THE BEST CIRCUMSTANCES HERE) syndrome.

And I didn’t even know it.

Well, maybe I did.

Okay, yes, it’s possible that I knew it; but, I never really questioned it.

That’s right, I never questioned it until this accursed outbreak pushed so many of my dreams, like global traveling, out of reach.

Now I’m left wondering:

What in the hell was I waiting for?

Seriously, during all that time before the pandemic…why didn’t I do more of the things I wanted to do?

Now, let’s shine the light towards you!

I’m curious to know, so I’ll ask:

Why should you wait?

Don’t get me wrong, I am not talking to a teenager questioning the right time to make a serious decision–because in that case, as a mother, I’d say WAIT UNTIL YOU’RE GROWN….And then wait a little longer.

And I’m definitely NOT talking about someone who is debating the need to seek legal or medical advice for a serious situation.

I am talking to people, like me, who have been waiting for any number of “best circumstances,” future events, situations or possibilities to occur.

You see, up until now, I had been waiting for:

The perfect time to write a book

My daughter to graduate so I can travel internationally

The money to come from “somewhere”

My ship to come in

Someone else to “come around” or “make up their mind” or “appreciate my worth”

But guess what?

According to Faulkner, even “waiting ends.”

Unfortunately, it sometimes ends in ways we hadn’t imagined.

For some of us it has already ended.

Forever.

And so, I see now that I no longer have the luxury to wait because waiting for the best circumstances to make a move has stunted my growth!

FORGET “best circumstances.”

The time is nigh.

Right now, I’m writing a book.

I’m finding ways to do things that I had previously waited to do…NOW!

And you should too!

Abundance: Why You Should Be Careful What You Ask For

This is NOT an early Thanksgiving post, but it should serve as a word of caution about constantly asking, affirming or praying for “abundance.”

Abundance is fine, but what about higher vibration states like “love” and “appreciation?”

Ah…but we are humans, so we generally can’t help becoming overly focused on the accumulation of material things.

Always wanting more…

and more…

and more.

Which ties nicely into our relentless quest for abundance.

Trust me when I tell you that it is a relentless quest, indeed.

Don’t believe me?

Go google the word “abundance” and see what happens.

Hell, I’ll do it for you.

Yeah so…….. 296,000,000 results!

Looks like a lot of people are talking about abundance because they know that a lot of people are interested in the topic.

But…

I would argue that many of us aren’t even capable of recognizing abundance.

In fact, there are people, especially in the United States, who are blindly swimming in abundance–totally unaware.

No shade, I’ve been guilty of diving into that lake myself.

Therein lies a major problem.

Love Notes From Lady G: Everybody’s Talkin’

I’m going where the sun keeps shining
Through the pouring rain
Going where the weather suits my clothes

Banking off of the northeast winds
Sailing on a summer breeze
And skipping over the ocean like a stone

Everybody’s talking at me
Can’t hear a word they’re saying
Only the echoes of my mind

Greens From Daddy’s Patio: Probably NOT Spinach (Week 17-ish)

This is probably NOT Spinach!

LadyG here with a quick update on what’s been happening with the greens on Daddy’s Patio!

Daddy says that the plants that I have been calling spinach are probably NOT spinach; at least not the kind of spinach that he is familiar with.

There is also some question about the basil plant that we purchased as a start.

That said, the basil plant that we are growing from seed is definitely basil! Any advice? What do you think?

Love Notes From Lady G: Ain’t No Stopping Us Now

I know you know someone that has a negative vibe
And if you’re trying to make it they only push you aside
They really don’t have, no where to go

Ask them where they’re going, they don’t know
But we won’t let nothin’ hold us back
We’re gonna put ourselves together
We’re gonna polish up our act!

And if you’ve ever been held down before
I know you refuse to be held down anymore!
Don’t you let nothing, nothing
Stand in your way!

Alternate Title:  That time we became Black Belts

Kung Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas (Released 1974)

Just a fun song!

When I was little I remember doing my faux ‘Kung Fu’ routine all over the house to this jam!

Who knew that I’d actually go on to earn my Black Belt?

I sure’s hell didn’t!

But life happened… and I later gave birth to a son who was interested in martial arts.

One day, unbeknownst to me, my Dad signed him up for Taekwondo class, informed me of his actions, said his goodbyes and promptly went the hell back home to Alabama!

WTF?

Homeboy stuck me with a new project.

Thanks Daddy!

And so it went—-me taking Sir R to weekly Taekwondo practice.

One day, my son’s instructor challenged me to start taking the adult classes that he held at night.

It is important to note that, during those days, Lady G did not back away from a challenge.

Needless to say, I started attending and it was on!

You see, my instructor was very crafty.

Shortly after we started, he went ahead and ordered our Black belts and put them on display.

Everyday when my son and I went to practice we could see our Black belt high up on a wall for the entire galaxy to see!

I’ll be damned if I wasn’t gonna get that thing!

And so…

About 3 years later we were there!

In fact, my son and I were this instructor’s first mother and son First degree Black Belts!

Sir R was 9 years old.

YAAASSSS!

We stepped up to the plate baby!

Which brings me to today’s affirmation:

My word is bond!  Whatever I choose to do, I WILL do!

Just don’t hurt nobody in the process!

LOL!!!
