We met in starry Winter.

Spring-Summer

Had a ball!

The chime rings twelve,

Her time had come to

Leave me in the Fall.

-Lady G For Mama💞 RIP

I really wish you guys could have ‘met’ my Mom!

She was truly something else!

By the way, down South, we often describe certain people as being “something else” when we can’t quite find the best words to describe them.

Mind you, this could be either good or bad 🙂

In Mama’s case it was a good thing!

And so…

Here, in the Northern Hemisphere, we celebrate the first day of fall!

It’s my favorite time of year!

Last year, I decided to greet the Autumnal Equinox with this popular post!

Feel free to check it out!

Meanwhile, I will leave you to celebrate our dear season with the following musical goodies!

The first song was one of Mama’s favorites by Marvin Gaye.  We’d sing it together while dancing and having a ball!

The second song is….What can I say? Apropos!

Love and light to you all!

Give Me Love

A beautiful and relevent song from my Beatle, “the quiet one,” George Harrison 💖🇬🇧What a beautiful soul he was 🙂

Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)
Give me love
Give me love
Give me peace on earth
Give me light
Give me life
Keep me free from birth
Give me hope
Help me cope, with this heavy load
Trying to, touch and reach you with,
heart and soul

OM M M M M M M M M M M M M M
M M M My Lord . . .

PLEASE take hold of my hand, that
I might understand you

Won’t you please
Oh won’t you

Give me love
Give me love
Give me peace on earth
Give me light
Give me life
Keep me free from birth
Give me hope
Help me cope, with this heavy load
Trying to, touch and reach you with,
heart and soul

OM M M M M M M M M M M M M M
M M M My Lord . . .

PLEASE take hold of my hand, that
I might understand you

Friday Message-Constellations

Be mindful of your thoughts.

They may be untrue.

Lies are easy to recognize.

They say…

“Forget that dream!”

“You’re not smart enough!”

“Bad things will happen!”

“Only certain people can…”

“He’s worthless!”

And on they go!

Illusions!

Every. Single. One.

Wipe that mist from your eyes.

Delve into silence.

Commune with a higher power.

Listen for authenticity.

Thoughts that bring you peace…

Insist on growth…

Point to beauty…

Encourage love…

Urge you to become a better human being.

Align with the Divine!

Let the truth emerge!

Think about what you’re thinking about.

Love and light!

Come to the Light

sunset-1625081_1920

Remember that old saying, “You are what you eat?”

Trust me, that ‘proverb’ is true on so many levels.

It’s not always about what you physically consume with your mouth–though that’s very important.

It’s just as much about what you decided to bring into your life via your eyes and ears.

Think about the things that you look at and listen to all day.

Are those things adding value to you as a person?

Do they add value to others?

Do they uplift?

Do they bring joy?

Do they inspire?

Here’s my take…

There comes a point when you must take responsibility for what you consume.

Why?

Because, on some level or form, you recreate all of the things that you ingest.

In a nutshell, if you mindfully ingest positive things, you will produce positivity.

Conversely, if you mindlessly ingest negative things, you will recreate more negativity.

Don’t believe me?

Go watch a ‘reality show’ or a ‘news’ program and see if your mind doesn’t start to entertain some of that junk.

Next thing you know you’ll be cussing out your spouse, mate, sibling, roommate, parent, landlord, boss, teacher, dog, bird or cat–all the while writing a hate filled comment on a random website.

Oh, I hear some of you out there in the ethers saying, “But Lady G, I want to be informed, I want to be in the know about all the goings on.”

I get that.

But it’s important to remember that you don’t have to be INUNDATED to be aware.

Do realize, that this whole concept of the 24-hour news and TV programming cycle is a relatively new creation.

There was a time when folks watched the news TWICE –at best!

Once from Walter Cronkite.

Then, again,  from the local 11pm newscast.

That was it!

Wanna know why?  Because not long after that the freaking TV shut down!

What?

Yes baby, there was a time when all of the TV stations signed-off around midnight.

They did not resume activity until the next morning around 6am.

Fancy that?

Oh yeah, by the way, there were others who solely got their news in written form–the newspaper 😉

SERIOUSLY, how many times do we need to see the film, listen to the audio or be verbally assaulted by a myriad of wannabees and talking-heads pontificating about a whole lot of nothing?

What more do you need to know?

Nothing.

You already know everything you need to know in order to formulate an informed opinion about local, national and international events.

Believe me, you do!

And, as for TV programming, do yourself a favor and incorporate other forms of entertainment into your life.

Look for things that improve your intellect, wisdom, knowledge and spiritual understanding.

Get off Facebook and put your face in a book!

Get off Twitter and go listen to some real birds tweet!

For real!  Let’s do it!

So, here’s an invitation to you to come run with Lady G!

Step away from that electrical hearth you call a TV, computer or smartphone and let’s escape to the light 🙂

Any takers?  Meet me in comments 😉

Over at Eva’s

mama holding tack
Mama, Tack and Me

You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.  Matthew 5:14-16 New Living Translation (NLT)

One thing I can say with certainty is that mama’s light was bright enough for all who encountered her to see.  In that way, she was a living example of God’s love.

If you are a regular reader of my blog then you already know mama.  Sometimes she is referred to directly.  Other times, she quietly lingers between the lines.  Either way, she is always present in just about every post that I write.

Oh, just so you know, mama’s given name was Eva.  She passed away a few years ago so in recognition of Mother’s Day, I’d like to tell you a little more about her.

Ok, let me start by saying that mama was something of a paradox.  In fact she was the personification of the adage “You should never judge a book by the cover.” At first glance she often appeared to be aloof and unengaged.  However, a closer look would have revealed that she was actually quite warm and kindhearted.  In any case, people were automatically drawn to her.  Suffice it to say, there was something disarming about her demeanor that encouraged folks to lean in closer.

Bearing this in mind, I have come to appreciate the fact that mama was a universal ‘mother’ whose influence extended well beyond the three children that she birthed. In essence she advised, taught, consoled, cared for, comforted and united a motley crew of followers. While some of them started out as strangers, most of them ended up as family.

Yes friends, when Eva walked this Earth she maintained a countless number of devotees and each of them sought refuge at her place whenever they needed to.

So if you were looking for the broke young railroad worker who was waiting for his first paycheck, you would have found him over at Eva’s having a good hot meal.

If you were looking for the German lady who felt homesick and isolated, you would have found her over at Eva’s making a connection.

If you were looking for the scared latch key kid, you would have found her over at Eva’s feeling more secure.

If you were looking for the young gay man who felt rejected, you would have found him over at Eva’s experiencing acceptance.

Clearly Ms. Eva set a very high standard.  At her place, she provided much needed light to those who had been navigating in darkness.

Earlier this year I decided to find a broader way in which to pick up where she dropped off; so I started this blog.

Ultimately, I’d like to see this blog become a virtual version of Ms. Eva’s place.  Basically, I envision a digital sanctuary for all who are seeking light.

Yes, I recognize that this is a tall order but I think mama would approve ❤ 🙂

Happy Mother’s Day!
