In this rambling video I deal with some cheap meat and 30-year-old paper clutter.
I also plan a birthday tea for my daughter–her gift this year? “Abs of Steel,” of course! No seriously, I gave her this VHS as a gag gift since I noticed that a lot of gen z’ers love laughing at old boomer/gen x aerobic dance and workout videos.
Listen close for my impression of a British accent (an accent that I adore!)
Lots of memories here!
Thankfully, I finished decluttering and I had it all thrown out or donated by Jan 31!

I just wanted to step back on the blog after a long hiatus to check in with you guys!
I have truly missed you all, and I want you to know that you were never far away from my heart.
So, let’s talk about the title of this post…
Today marks an exciting new beginning! To be specific, my dear cousin Ron and I are planning to do several collaborative projects that will involve writing, shooting videos and possibly podcasting.
Many of you will remember our collaborations during the early days of this blog. In fact, Ron is featured here under the category “Ron’s Time Tunnel.”
He is also heavily featured, along with your’s truly, under the “Flowering Vine” category where we detail our Southern roots; not to mention the complexities of race.
For those of you who do not know, Ron and I are first cousins. His mother and my father are siblings. And, frankly, the “Flowering Vine” is a great place to start for folks who are interested in getting to know our family.
But, I digress….
Just know that Ron, a veteran of The United States Air Force, is a magnificent writer and storyteller who has his own blog.
In addition to the writing that he does there, he recently completed his Master’s degree.
YAAAAY and congratulations!
Suffice it to say, Cuz has been BUSY!!!!
Anyway, today, I am so happy to present a video of Ron speaking at his church during a Friends and Family Celebration for Black History Month.
Now, before we proceed, I must inform you that the video was recorded on a cell phone and it is a bit grainy…Not to mention the fact that I had to crop out a couple of beautiful church hats!
So, I could have started by mentioning the fact that his name is Alphonso Thomas, but I was compelled to be a bit more “possessive” in my approach 🙂
It made you look, didn’t it?
I had the great honor of being invited by my cousin to witness his official induction ceremony into the Department of Air Force Senior Executive Service!
You don’t know what the Senior Executive Service is?
No worries, I didn’t know what it was either…
However, that is no longer the case.
Apparently, it is a RARE and GREAT honor.
I have to say that during the ceremony, I was amazed to learn of Alphonso’s many accomplishments during his service as an officer in the Air Force, and later, as a civil servant.
Suffice it to say, he has racked up quite a few outstanding achievements. Most of which, I can barely understand, but I will say that it involves missiles, bombers and some other such wizardry that my mind can’t quite comprehend.
