Gregory Morning

sundial-2586531_1920

Alternative Title:  Strangers who unknowingly have a very important function in our lives.

With the “alternate title” in mind, I give you Gregory Morning!

NOT his real name, because I do NOT, in fact, know him, and probably never will!

But that’s neither here nor there.

Follow me now…

Lady J and I get up every morning at half-past the rooster’s crow in order to get to school in a timely manner.

Mind you, we are never at risk of being officially late.

However, I’ve found that if we leave after a particular point in time I’ll be stuck in traffic hell once I drop her off.

So, before the sun rises, I gently rouse Lady J—and subsequently keep her on task so that I can leave in time enough to avoid the snarl that I so dearly abhor.

Now, after Lady J has wiped the sleep from her eyes, eaten breakfast, taken a shower, brushed her teeth, gotten dressed, and packed up her grip, we’re off to the races!

Enter Gregory Morning.

A lanky uniformed fellow who walks the short distance from his house to the school that Lady J attends.

By the way, Lady J said he looks like a “Gregory.”

And so it is written into “law” that he shall always be known as Gregory 🙂

I gave him the last name “Morning” because that’s the only time of day that we see him.

Anyway…

Gregory, our dear friend that we do NOT know, functions as my unofficial timekeeper of sorts.

If Gregory is at the top of the hill; I’m doing good.

No traffic worries 🙂

If Gregory has made it to the traffic light, I am a bit behind.

Some traffic…Eh…it’s tolerable 😏

But…

God forbid, if Gregory is standing at the school’s entrance, I’m SCREWED 😱

It’s traffic all the way to more traffic and then some!

I simply cannot with all that!!!

And so…

If Gregory is standing at the school door, then I immediately know to go park somewhere until the madness dies down.

Hey, it gives me time to read my e-mails, WordPress notifications and Instagram messages.

Problem solved!

Long live Gregory!

Do you have a “Gregory Morning” in your life?  Meet me in comments and tell me all about it!

Love and light to you,

LadyG 💋 💋

We met in starry Winter.

Spring-Summer

Had a ball!

The chime rings twelve,

Her time had come to

Leave me in the Fall.

-Lady G For Mama💞 RIP

I really wish you guys could have ‘met’ my Mom!

She was truly something else!

By the way, down South, we often describe certain people as being “something else” when we can’t quite find the best words to describe them.

Mind you, this could be either good or bad 🙂

In Mama’s case it was a good thing!

And so…

Here, in the Northern Hemisphere, we celebrate the first day of fall!

It’s my favorite time of year!

Last year, I decided to greet the Autumnal Equinox with this popular post!

Feel free to check it out!

Meanwhile, I will leave you to celebrate our dear season with the following musical goodies!

The first song was one of Mama’s favorites by Marvin Gaye.  We’d sing it together while dancing and having a ball!

The second song is….What can I say? Apropos!

Love and light to you all!

Fae: An Ode to the Generous

Faeshouse
Photo taken by LadyG during a morning walk

If a man says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who doesn’t love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

–1 John 4:20

Just behind this door resides a noble little fae

Who has an open heart of gold for those who’ve lost their way.

She gathers all her eensy friends;

They know just what to do.

They share their food,

They offer care,

They teach eternal truth,

No questions asked;

No judgments made;

No hoarding of “the loot.”

They know that one can’t pull a strap unless he has a boot.

-Lady G

A simple rhyme from LadyG’s imagination!

Anyway…

Lately, I find myself so disheartened by current events; especially in the U.S.

Seriously! I often wonder if people realize that our children are looking on as adults act like violent and malicious spoiled brats who are singularly focused on what is best for them and theirs.

Everything is…

MINE!

ME!

THEM!  They are the problem!

What about US?

What’s our role?

What are we teaching our babies when we behave this way?

What are we teaching ourselves…The world?

We can do better!

Question, do all of the God-fearing folks really believe in and have reverence for God?

Simply put, you can’t love God in heaven while stepping all over your brother on Earth.

I’ve had enough!

And so…

I’ve created my own alternate world where love, kindness and generousity reign.

I’ve done it before.

Does anybody want to join me?  Plan to pray and meditate 🙂

Love and light to you all 💋

Weather Watcher

Weatherwatcher

(Scroll down to listen to LadyG’s audio version of this post)

I’ve always been fascinated by the weather.

As a child, I remember watching my grandfather’s weather vane twirl from one direction to the next.

North, South, East, West…

But, somehow, it always seemed to me as if there was something deeper underlying those shifting winds.

What could it be?

I wondered if the easterly wind carried a portent of mysterious events to come.

If so, would it be something magical?

Odd?

Supernatural?

I had my suspicions, but I wasn’t sure.

So, in an effort to satisfy my curiousity about the wind and other weather related peculiarities, I decided to become an amateur meteorologist!

To that end, I feverishly consumed every book or article about the weather.

Which led me to…

Study cloud formations…

Fashion a bottle, balloon and some straw into a primitive barometer…

Learn the difference between spinning storms in the Northern Hemisphere..

And spinning storms in the Southern Hemisphere…

And spinning storms in the Pacific…

And spinning storms in the Atlantic…

And spinning storms on land…

And spinning storms on water…

You know….CYCLONES and what not.

At any rate, I became obsessed with other relevant phenomenon such as high and low pressure systems.

I was ever conscious of their locations 🙂

How’s that, you ask?

Well, I once read that if you face the direction of the wind, the low pressure system will be on your left side–at least in the Northern Hemisphere.

I’ve never verified that information but it seemed plausible to me 🙂

Oh, and don’t get me started on my passion for weather folklore, history and lies.

I love ’em all!

As a matter of fact, my dream job is to compile and study narratives and pictures from people who have lived through major hurricanes and other weather related events.

So…where does my preoccupation with weather come from?

Well, I can tell you with all certainty that my mother couldn’t have cared less.

Eh….My father might have had a passing interest.

But, honestly, I think that my obsession with weather may have come from the fact that I shuffled onto this mortal coil alongside Hurricane Camille.

Screen Shot 2017-09-13 at 9.11.45 AM

Hey…don’t laugh…Mark Twain had his comet and I have my hurricane 🙂

On a serious note, I realize that this storm left many lives lost.  That said, I do not in any way celebrate that fact.

However, I do have a certain amount of reverence and awe for mother nature’s powerful manifestations.

And, to this day, I am still captivated by all things atmospheric!

Speaking of which…

I grabbed a few photos of some of the damage cause by tropical storm Irma.

Fortunately, my family fared pretty well.

I say prayers for those who were not so lucky and to those who are busy picking up the pieces.

In the end, this weather watcher has concluded that the Earth reserves the right to remind us of her power.

Either way, God will see us through.

Love and light to you all!

Storms Make Strange Bedfellows

StormsPost

LadyG is smack dab in the middle of Tropical Storm Irma land!

This morning our power went out just long enough to scare me into submission!

Thankfully, it came back on an hour later.

Best believe, right after that, I went into cook for your life mode!

Baby, I started cooking, baking and prepping food…any food!

You should have seen my kitchen!

It felt like I was Snoopy cooking Thanksgiving Dinner for Peppermint Patty and friends!

Toast, jellybeans, popcorn! Insubordinate folding chairs…

Oh my!

LOL!

Ok, I’m fibbing a bit, but I did end up cooking things with no rhyme or reason…all in an attempt to be prepared in case we lose power again….which I suspect we will.

I also made sure to wash up all the clothes and get out the lanterns, candles and flashlights.

For my friends and family in the Caribbean and Florida–in particular– I pray that you are safe.

To my friends and family in Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee, I pray that you are preparing and that you will be safe as well.

God willing and if the creek don’t rise…we’ll ‘see’ each other before too long!

Love and light to you all!

Lady G 😘

Some Place

Sky and trees

There must be always remaining in every life, some place for the singing of angels, some place for that which in itself is breathless and beautiful.

A beautiful and relevent song from my Beatle, “the quiet one,” George Harrison 💖🇬🇧What a beautiful soul he was 🙂

Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)
Give me love
Give me love
Give me peace on earth
Give me light
Give me life
Keep me free from birth
Give me hope
Help me cope, with this heavy load
Trying to, touch and reach you with,
heart and soul

OM M M M M M M M M M M M M M
M M M My Lord . . .

PLEASE take hold of my hand, that
I might understand you

Won’t you please
Oh won’t you

Give me love
Give me love
Give me peace on earth
Give me light
Give me life
Keep me free from birth
Give me hope
Help me cope, with this heavy load
Trying to, touch and reach you with,
heart and soul

OM M M M M M M M M M M M M M
M M M My Lord . . .

PLEASE take hold of my hand, that
I might understand you

Blessings and Butterflies

Butterfly FullSize

Whenever I have time, I like to spend cool mornings outside admiring nature; especially during late summer and fall.

I don’t know, I guess it’s one of the ways in which I count my blessings.

Mornings spent in nature provide the best proof of The Divine!

Ah…but the fireflies in the evening are a sight to see!  My Dad told a beautiful story about seeing a magical night-time firefly show while working as a conductor on the railroad.

You can find that lovely piece right here.

But…Lady G….you digress!

Indeed, I have.

Excuse me my loves.

Anyway, this morning a couple of butterflies decided to put on a show of shows!

I almost tripped myself trying to grab my i-phone to capture this glorious display of groovyness! LOL!!!

Here are some of the shots that I was able to grab.

Enjoy!
