Please check out this post that my good friend Dr. K. E. Garland asked me to write for her blog’s “Self-Love” series.

Many of you may already know Dr. Garland as the author of The Unhappy Wife.

Well, in addition to that, she is also the Editor of Daddy, an anthology which includes stories written by women about their relationships with their fathers.  Tikeetha Thomas, a well-known blogger on WP is featured in Daddy.

Both of these ladies are fierce in this writing game and I encourage you to check them out, if you haven’t already.

Also, be sure to catch the latest edition of the “Self Love” series as it is written by my dear sister, Michelle, who is also the very talented author of a love poem that I recently read on this blog entitled, “Present Distance.”

You can find Michelle here.

Seriously, check her out! I can assure you that you will NOT be disappointed.

I hope you enjoy my piece.  Let’s discuss it in comments 🙂

PS:  I will continue the poetry readings through Valentines Day.  That said, you will not want to miss my reading of one of the baddest poets on WP, Braeden Michaels!

Love and Light,

LadyG 😘💋💋

The Flowering Vine: She Needed Me…

Here’s a reading of a piece that I wrote for the “Flowering Vine” series. It is about “love.”

She wanted him

BUT he wanted me

So she

Stormed

And she seethed

She wanted him

BUT he wanted me

So she

Sought

And she stalked

She wanted him

BUT he wanted me

So she

Schemed

And she steamed

She wanted him

So she needed me

to be

Silenced

Sequestered

Severed

And sliced

Eternally

encased

And placed…

out of sight.

For Aunt Elvy’s daughter, Alberta, (Mother’s dear first cousin and friend), reportedly murdered by a jealous rival.

Love Poems Read By Lady G: Present Distance

IMG_3428

Please enjoy this “fearlessly authentic” piece written by one of my dear sisters, Michelle.

 Present Distance

I have learned not to tell him my frustrations with loneliness

I am learning to keep singed pieces of my heart unheard

I am learning to miss him while letting parts of me leave

My pain is not due to him not being here, being present

My pain intensifies in waves of want…of what has not happened

What if I am not able to love him—here; In this space?

What if I am not able to love him in these orchestrated phases of time

Brown skin to Brown Skin, lips curving to meet,

Tongues enveloping touch, taste, texture and sound….

There is no meeting of the minds —He has yet to hear my heart

I’ve longed for the moments he is totally mine and

Yet yearn for the time our hearts will meet….

Presently Distanced
